POSITION: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - Off-site Clinic

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: .6-.8 FTE (48-64 hrs/pay period)


DEPARTMENT: Clinic Nursing

This position is responsible for performing a variety of patient care related activities to assist providers and may include performing a variety of diagnostic lab procedures according to established policies and procedures.

1. Implements patient care interventions that are delegated, ordered or prescribed by a licensed health care provider.

2. Performs waived laboratory tests.
3. Collects blood and urine specimens for patients.
4. Focus on patient care through the provision of safe /effective care, patient advocacy, and assistance with patient evaluation to interventions and collaboration and communication with health care team members.
5. Provides health care information to patients and reviews education materials.
6. Provides input for policies and procedures.

1. Maintains current CMA certification.
2. One year previous experience performing waived laboratory tests and collecting blood and urine specimens preferred.
3. Experience in an ambulatory health care setting is preferred.
4. Ability to work efficiently, accurately, and maintain positive working relationships.
5. BLS certification to be completed within two months of employment.
6. Demonstrated ability to follow and adhere to Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital policies, vision, mission and values.
7. Maintains reliable and consistent attendance.
