POSITION: House Supervisor

The Nursing Supervisor serves as the Acting Director/Manager during off hours and on weekends/holidays to make decisions requiring immediate attention. They collaborate on a daily basis with Clinical Directors to meet the goals and objectives of this organization and of the Department of Nursing. Additional responsibilities include: Maintain awareness of Patient Safety, Standards of Patient Centered Excellence and of Operational Excellence; work with physicians and staff to achieve employee satisfaction. The Nursing Supervisor(s) coordinates nursing and hospital operations and provides resources with which to accomplish aims; is directly involved in Performance Improvement initiatives by assisting to identify opportunities, collecting data, interpreting data and measuring outcomes; completes all related responsibilities and submits reports in a timely fashion; supervises, teaches, counsels and disciplines according to hospital policy; serves as a role model for critical thinking, performance and behavior; rounds "with purpose" in all patient care areas and solicits input from patients, staff and other customers; responds to emergencies directly if appropriate, or through allocation of available and appropriate resources; problem solves to achieve resolution; makes prompt and sound decisions; involves key stakeholders in decision-making; communicates effectively and frequently; able to place issues in order of priority and manage multiple tasks. This position has shift accountability and responsibility for managing all aspects of patient care activities, nursing and organizational operations, and staff functions. Management functions of this position include: supervising, evaluating, planning, directing and educating. This position maintains a positive working relationship with all departments and staff; maintains a positive working relationship with the community. The Nursing Supervisor(s) coordinates activities related to planning and problem solving, personnel, financial management, quality outcomes, systems, facilities, equipment and supplies management, and compliance with licensing/regulatory agency requirements.

Current RN licensure in State of Minnesota
2. Clinical experience preferred – minimum of 5 years in Med/Surg setting, or 2 years in a specialty unit (ER/ICU or OB)
3. BLS Certification required
4. ACLS certification obtained within 6 months
5. NRP, TNCC and PALS certifications preferred
6. Demonstrated effectiveness in leadership role with ability to work collaboratively with other departments.
7. Demonstrated abilities to manage multiple priorities and organize workload; includes critical thinking, delegation skills and demonstrated experience with problem solving.
8. Management/Supervisory experience preferred.
9. Demonstrated respectful, effective communication skills with patients, families, physicians, staff and all other internal and external customers.
10. Understands and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements.
11. Other duties within the scope of RN practice, leadership responsibilities and experience
12. Demonstrated ability to follow and adhere to Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital policies, vision, mission and values.
13. Maintains reliable and consistent attendance.
